On June 24, 2025, we, together with panOPTICUM/SAOT welcomed a group of enthusiastic primary school teachers to our very first workshop dedicated to introducing the wide range of educational resources our project offers on the topic of color.

During a vibrant and engaging afternoon, participants explored how scientific concepts around color can be brought into the classroom through a mix of presentations and hands-on activities. We introduced our freely available teaching materials, demonstrated simple experiments that can easily be recreated with students, and showcased creative ways to connect young learners with our researchers and university life.

A special highlight of the day was the inauguration of our second interactive photo booth “Selfies & Farben”, now installed at the PanOPTICUM. This playful exhibit invites visitors to explore optical effects while taking creative selfies—offering a fun and accessible entry point into the science of color and perception. The first booth has been on display since December at the Bionicum in the Tiergarten Nürnberg, and two more are already in the works for later this year.

The goal of the workshop—and the installations—is to spark curiosity, inspire teaching, and bring science closer to everyday life. Judging by the lively discussions and curious questions, we’re confident the event hit the mark.

We’re already looking forward to future workshops and continued collaboration with schools across the region!
