CRC 1411 researcher Dr. Carlos L. Bassani has received an ERC Starting Grant for his project kineticSHAPES – Kinetic Pathways to Control Nanocrystal Shapes. The project will investigate how nanocrystal morphologies emerge under non-equilibrium conditions. By developing simulation methods that span from the atomic to the mesoscopic scale, the research aims to explain phenomena such as metastability, symmetry-breaking, and polydispersity, and to identify the conditions that govern synthesis outcomes. Dr. Bassani, originally from Brazil, works at the Institute for Multiscale Simulation and has been a member of CRC 1411 since 2022.
