On 23 April 2026, we took part in this year’s Girls’ Day and welcome young participants for an exciting day of discovery, creativity, and science. Girls’ Day is an important initiative that encourages girls to explore career paths and fields in which women are still underrepresented, particularly in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to experience science in a practical and inspiring way. Through interactive activities and hands-on experiments with Annika Mauch and Frederich Dietrich, they explored the fascinating world of colors and materials. The program was designed to show how curiosity, creativity, and scientific thinking can come together in exciting ways.
Our team introduced the students to current research topics in CRC1411 and gave insights into how science can lead to innovative solutions in everyday life. In addition to experiments and demonstrations, participants were encouraged to ask questions, test their own ideas, and discover the many possibilities that scientific careers can offer.
Events like Girls’ Day are a valuable opportunity to inspire the next generation and to show young people that science is open to everyone, aligning with the mission of the outreach of CRC1411.
